The LIFE Programme is the EU’s funding instrument for the environment and climate action. The 2023 LIFE calls for proposals are open since April.
A brief overview of the LIFE Programme
Created in 1992, the LIFE Programme, which is open to private and public actors, has funded more than 5,600 projects in areas such as the protection of biodiversity, the improvement of water or air quality, waste management and the energy transition. You can find the projects funded since the beginning of the programme in this database.
If your project is focusing on:
♻️ Circular Economy and Quality of life
🌏 Climate Change mitigation and adaptation
the LIFE Programme may be what you are looking for!
The work programme 2021-2024 is available here. For more information about LIFE, you can watch the recordings of the EULife23 Info Days.
“The general objective of the LIFE Programme shall be to contribute to the shift towards a sustainable, circular, energy-efficient, renewable energy-based, climate-neutral and – resilient economy, in order to protect, restore and improve the quality of the environment, including the air, water and soil, and to halt and reverse biodiversity loss and to tackle the degradation of ecosystems […], thereby contributing to sustainable development”
Focus on a LIFE success story: PermaLIFE
The LIFE Programme calls for projects that will have a concrete, ambitious, and measurable impact on the environment. PermaLIFE is coordinated by the Belgian SME PermaFungi, which Euronovia is proud to have supported during its grant application phase. With the LIFE funding, PermaLIFE is launching the large-scale circular production of a myco-material capable of replacing polluting materials in the packaging and insulation sectors. These innovative and environmentally-friendly materials are made from organic urban waste transformed locally by the natural action of mycelium. More information on their webpage.
