Euronovia celebrated its 10th anniversary in 2024, a year rich in celebrations!
10 years already!
2024 marked Euronovia’s 10th anniversary. This gave us the opportunity to look back at the highlights of the last 10 years: from the creation of Euronovia in February 2014 to the first contract and project won, the first team, and from joining the Association of Innovation Councils (ACI) to the creation of the European Association of Innovation Consultants (EAIC).
The 10-year anniversary party gave us the opportunity to thank our partners, including:
- ANRT – the National association of research and technology
- WILCO – innovation accelerator for startups, midcaps & corporations
- Aerospace Valley
- France Innovation
Finally, it was an opportunity to formulate our 10 wonderful reasons to continue the adventure, based on Euronovia’s strong convictions: the importance of Europe, the need to innovate, the need to share knowledge and the urgency of supporting female entrepreneurship.
Successful projects
Euronovia has supported some very successful projects submitted in 2023-2024, such as:
- In Pillar 1 of Horizon Europe (HE), an ERC Advanced Grant project led by Stéphane Avril (Juven Twin), who wins his third ERC project on arterial aging and rejuvenation; and a Doctoral Network (VoCs) project on the latest advances and technologies in voice sciences, rated 99/100 on its first submission;
- In Pillar 2 (HE), a Cluster 6 project (LAFERIA) on the reintroduction of landscape elements in intensive agricultural areas, and a project in the framework of the KDT JU partnership (MATISSE) aimed at developing an advanced framework for the efficient engineering and validation of industrial systems using digital twins;
- For Pillar 3 (HE), an EIC Pathfinder project (PELVITRACK) aimed at improving the prevention of pelvic floor disorders, among the 45 projects selected by the EIC Pathfinder out of 1,100 submitted applications
- As part of the transversal pillar (HE), an ERA-Talents project (FOCUS-4R) aiming to strengthen the R&I capacities of the outermost regions, helping them to gain in autonomy, competitiveness and attractiveness in the biomedical field, rated 15/15.
- And an Erasmus Mundus project (DENSYS 2) to train students in energy transition issues.
5 new projects launched in 2024
We have launched 5 new projects in 2024, in which we are carrying out communication and dissemination activities.
- FLOATFARM follows on from the FLOATECH project, aimed at increasing the technical maturity and competitiveness of offshore wind farms.
- FALCON aims to improve the design capabilities of the European aeronautics industry, focusing on fluid-structure interaction phenomena to enhance aircraft aerodynamic performance.
- WORM aims to develop guidelines and support actions in favor of the circular economy in the humanitarian sector, in order to improve waste management.
- DINOSAR aims to develop multi-sensor operational monitoring using an algorithm based on Earth Observation (Copernicus), enabling more sustainable management of crop fields and specifically sugarcane cultivation in Colombia.
- The ambition of the HER FUND project is to foster knowledge sharing and synergies between innovation players and existing initiatives/projects in order to support the next generation of startups, with a focus on women-led businesses and gender-sensitive investors.
Our other 5 ongoing projects continued their activities, including the launch of the first two SHORE calls to encourage students and teachers to organize ocean protection projects in schools.
A stronger team
The year 2024 saw the arrival of Anaïs Loudières in February in Toulouse. At Euronovia, Anaïs supports the SHORE, FALCON and WORM projects in their communication and dissemination activities. She is also involved in setting up Horizon Europe and INTERREG projects.
With offices in Paris, Toulouse, Bordeaux, Bayonne and now Montpellier, the Euronovia team now numbers 10 consultants.
Strengthened partnerships
The year 2024 saw the launch of reflections on the next Framework Program for Research and Innovation (FP10).
The European Association of Innovation Consultancies (EAIC) published its position paper “Improving the EU R&I Framework Programme for Applicants and Beneficiaries“, proposing to double the programme’s budget to €200 billion, clarify the rules for participation (notably on lump sums), enable project management activities to be delegated/subcontracted, support startups in the early stages or guide the use of artificial intelligence.
Following the “Align, Act, Accelerate” Report coordinated by the group of experts led by the former Portuguese Ministry of Research and Innovation, Manuel Heitor, the EAIC reaffirmed its positions on the budget, programme simplification, AI and the positive role of innovation consultants.
The end-of-year “Research Rewired” meeting brought together members of the Association to discuss the past and future activities of the working groups, and to open discussions with Muriel Attané, General Delegate of the European Association of Research and Technology Organisations (EARTO) and Maud Noyon of the European Commission’s STEP Unit on simplification and the future of collaborative projects in the future framework programme.
